Mensa Restaurant

Designed by Sans-Arc, the restaurant in Kent Town, South Australia, references materials found in traditional tavernas, with a stripped-back ethos that ultimately invites interaction.
Featuring an abundance of exposed brick, terrazzo, warm timber and leather, this contemporary Italian diner marries tonal energy with a polished urban sentiment, complementing the bold flavour profile of its modern Mediterranean menu.

Solid States
Against the honeyed backdrop of Blackbutt and Spotted Gum wall panelling, and upon rich nocciola-hued tiles, energising blocks of colour and patterned pairings mash the space up. Speckled planes of terracotta-hued terrazzo are stacked to create stepped-edge surfaces, while other cut slabs crown tables, mingling with rich chocolate and sienna shades. A swathe of cushioned forest green banquette seating and cool Milanese grey upholstered booths breathe freshness into the space.

Minimal Impact
Just as the custom furnishings are stripped back and reduced to their minimal form, it is fitting that Sans-Arc’s Polished Chrome Associati Pull Handle 400mm provides not only the first touch point for patrons, but a stylistic introduction to the internal design concept. A member of the Super Collection hardware range created by Sans-Arc in collaboration with Bankston, its no fuss, minimal handle comprises an elongated line that sits upon a protruding dot. Standing upright upon a warm toned timber-framed entrance, its shimmering silver form instantly announces the entry point. Available in several finishes ranging from Smooth Nickel to a golden Champagne, the Associati is also offered in a larger scale at 600mm, making it a refined, yet bold entry statement for both hospitality venues and private residences.
