The Streaks Launches in Australia
Bankston and YSG Studio recently celebrated the official Australian launch of The Streaks, bringing the spirited collection of sculpted architectural hardware home to Sydney, with an intimate evening at Poly in Surry Hills.
Designed in collaboration with Yasmine Ghoniem and her award-winning studio YSG, The Streaks marks Bankston’s fourth design partnership and reflects a shared commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability and playful experimentation.
The collection includes superbly crafted timber door levers, pulls and joinery pieces with banding in alternating natural tones, complemented by an exclusive bronze range.
A Celebration of Design
The evening brought together Australia’s design community and leading publications including representatives from Yellowtrace, The Local Project, Belle Magazine and Habitus Magazine. Guests were invited to experience hardware as an interactive medium while exploring the sculptural forms and intricate details of The Streaks.
Poly was transformed into an immersive installation for the launch, capturing the raw energy and attitude at the heart of The Streaks. Custom-designed displays presented the collection as sculptural objects, while a bespoke Moon pendant by Anomolous illuminated the space and created an intimate, moody atmosphere. A life-sized Wide Guy Pull Handle welcomed guests at the door, unmistakably marking the event’s entrance. Band posters referencing the grit and glamour of rock and roll lined the walls, a nod to Yasmine Ghoniem’s early life as a musician and a spirit that runs through the collection’s confident lines and contrasting materials.
A Night to Remember
Guests enjoyed a curated menu designed exclusively for the event, with DJ Damien Hesse of Sneaky Sound System crafting a set that underscored the evening’s energy.
Throughout the night Emily and Steve Bradley, Co-CEOs of Bankston, and Yasmine Ghoniem, Director of YSG, shared insights into the inspiration, design philosophy and collaborative journey behind the collection.
Redefining Hardware
More than a celebration, this launch reflected the essence of The Streaks: sculptural hardware designed to spark curiosity, invite interaction and challenge perception.
Now available globally, The Streaks offers a new perspective on architectural hardware, bringing personality and storytelling into the built environment.
