Bankston x Sans-Arc: Super Party
The Super Collection launched into lockdown in 2020, so it never had a party. Six years on, Bankston and Sans-Arc gave it one.
In 2020, Bankston and Sans-Arc released the Super Collection into lockdown. There was no launch, no gathering and no fanfare. Six years and four collaborations later, the Super Party took place inside Sans-Arc’s new West Croydon studio as part of Adelaide Design Week 2026.
Now in its second year, Adelaide Design Week recognises design as a fundamentally human practice, turning its attention to the people who think, question, make and take part in design culture. Its inaugural 2025 theme, “everywhere”, has become “everyone” for 2026. Across five days, the programme held close to 90 events across the city.
Part Exhibition, Part Installation, Part Party
The Super Collection draws on the Radical Design movement, and the night took the same approach. It was hospitality authored by Bankston and Sans-Arc, with something to discover at every turn. As guests entered, pieces from the collection sat on carpet-covered displays. A bright-orange PVC curtain hung through the space, and posters of the campaign imagery were pasted across the interior walls. Sans-Arc built a giant ball pit in a stepped ziggurat form, and films were projected onto the courtyard walls.
Mirrors from the Bankston x FOR SCALE partnership were placed around the studio, a nod to the manifesto on touch. Merchandise from the archive, made for the 2020 party that never happened, was gifted to guests.
From the Courtyard
Stewart Wesson, Executive Chef of Sofia, prepared the food in the courtyard in front of guests: Sofia’s puff bread, dip, fresh meats and cheese. The drinks came from Adelaide producers, with natural soda from Mischief Brew, wines from Delinquente and beers from Little Bang.
For Bankston, the night closed a year spent exhibiting abroad, from 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen to New York Design Week. The Super Party brought it home. A collection that launched without a single guest finally had a full room. Six years late, and right on time.
